Maria Efthymiou (1990, Paphos, Cyprus) portarays little boxes of memories. In this series, we witness fragments of displaced memories of people transcend into treasures. A rock, a coin and even a couple of screws become precious objects by the act of storing them away in a box.
This exhibition is her first show after graduating from UCA (University of Creative Arts) in London in 2011.
Nicolas Iordanou (1975, Paphos, Cyprus) captures a moment in black and white. In this exhibition he presents a series of portraits. Iordanou concerns about the ability of an image to tell stories and explanatory texts often accompanied with an image.
For his work, audiences are invited to experience the images to speak out by themselves.
The latest work of Marianna Constanti (1977, Paphos, Cyprus) “Still life" series investigate the boundary of painting and photography.
The series make deliberate and open references to past imagery with direct quotation to the still life paintings of the Renaissance period in the West.
Still life compositions of the past are recreated with subtle present-time intrusions and tell a parallel story but are set in a contemporary, real and domestic setting.
